is a smart romantic comedy that revolves around Pete Christenson, a
32-year-old freelance writer who has yet to figure out what to do with his
life. One night, he has a vivid dream about a wonderful life shared with
the lovely Jennifer, a mystery woman he has never met. He tells her of his
love for her, and soon learns that he talks in his sleep. He is rudely
awakened by his girlfriend, Sharon, who throws him out for good.
Pete turns to his friend Dan to put him up for a
while as he attempts to finish a novel and get back on his feet
financially. In the meantime, he must suffer through a pointless job in a
giant corporation where he witnesses the hilarious twisted viewpoint of
corporate America. Struggling through the sudden changes in his life, he
continues to have happy dreams of Jennifer, whom he is sure is a real
person -- his dream girl.
To everyone’s surprise, Pete finally does meet
the real Jennifer, only to find that she is engaged to be married to the
successful financial analyst Wade. She hasn’t the slightest interest in
Pete.
Meanwhile, Pete must help his new roommate Dan
with his own problems. Through an innocent mistake, Dan has become the
target of a pair of mob hit men. Jennifer goes on with her own life,
striving to make her mark as a painter, a vocation for which her fiancée
has little respect. When Pete learns that Wade is cheating on Jennifer, he
must find a way to make her see for herself that she belongs with him and
not Wade. She is unconvinced -- until she starts having some dreams of her
own.
With a nod to "Gift of the Magi" Pinch
Me! explores the bonds of friendship and the true meaning of
sacrifice. In the tradition of great romantic comedies like "When
Harry Met Sally" the story finds a man and a woman who were meant for
each other, yet seem destined to remain apart. With a warm mix of humor,
romance, and adventure, Pete and his friends search for the careful
balance of dreams and reality that leads to happiness.
